Process

Before self-consciousness sets in, every child acts spontaneously, with total trust, abandon and full of involvement.  These joyous feelings are our birthright   As life’s events take over we identify with them and become overly attached to the people and objects in these scenarios.  This creates a loss of Self or Spirit and the sense of Oneness we came into creation with; the belief of a unitary reality once experienced with the Creator and later mirrored by the mother.  By identifying with these events, we become passive to life.

Leaving infancy we enter the world of duality and ego, ‘I’ and ‘my,’ versus ‘you’ and ‘yours.’  As we continue to cling to our infantile self-centeredness we experience separation, ambivalence and guilt.  Alienated and lonely we find refuge in the indulgence of sense pleasures.  This indulgence furthers our sense of loss and results in shame that only increases our pain.

We become fearful and vulnerable, believing we are inadequate and cannot handle life’s challenges.  Easily losing our balance, and hiding in fear or taking a defensive stance and keeping everyone at bay, we further our sense of alienation, which increases our feelings of separateness.  Feeling invisible, unseen and unsafe we become cynical, and hard-hearted, as inertia and immobility set; we feel helpless, lose our clarity of mind and angrily make choices that further imprison us.

Drained of life force and hypnotized by life’s events, we react mechanically with negativity and blame, which becomes our norm; unconscious and irresponsible – we just stop trying.  Asleep to our higher mental centers and our spiritual essence we wander hopelessly despondent and lost in pain and worldly delusion.  A bleak picture indeed – in truth most of us remain asleep and lead unfulfiling, unconscious, mechanical lives.

However, there is hope, there is a way out:  You are not alone.

“Together we can create transformation.”

This work is not necessarily about changing life’s events but changing our reactions to them and responsibly co-creating our lives.  We learn to face our pain, change our perspective, and view our situation objectively.   We focus on ‘the bigger picture’ from this vantage point, pain becomes a doorway to understanding our unmet and unfulfilled needs.  Our deepest need being, connection, to experience the inherent feelings of belonging and love.  We begin by appreciating and loving ourselves and then extend this love outward to our family, friends and humanity, ultimately we feel compassion for all God’s creation.

With an emphasis on the importance of trusting our intuition or Higher Self for direction, we relax and begin to let go.  Rather than unconsciously and repetitively projecting our familial wounds onto those closest to us, we realize the truth of these wounds, and learn to heal them by forgiving our usurpers.  This results in a surrender of the body’s protective armor and feelings.

We learn to accept ourselves and face our fears directly resulting in taking courageous, life affirming risks.

We integrate the oppositions and paradoxes life presents by reclaiming all of our feelings and with confidence and balance we are able to contain both our joy and our pain.
